After reading Melanie smiths essay on the similarities of The Yellow paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and The Story of an time of day by Kate Chopin, I combine too many points that Melanie Smith made towards the workforce and the main protagonists, but I have a different work to her points. Ms. Smith argued that both man in two stories spot their married woman and some of the neglecting actions was caused by the standard of nightspot during that time. I totally agree with Ms. Smith that society vie an strategic role in influencing male to become more superior as a route of increasing their agent and self because during that time of era it was a normal occurrence. further in my stamp, Ms. Smith was partially correct. The Yellow Wallpaper shows that the hubby did not love his wife, but hard-boiled her as a trophy, conclusion of his accomplishment as a man. Ms. Smith argued that both men in both stories love their wife, but in my opinion Ms. Smith was wrong. B rently Mallard, a character from The Story of an Hour, was the merely one of the two husbands who respected his wife. When he was report dead, the wife fell into depression. That is a sign that he was pixilated to her, lavish to make an impact of her life-time and that if he were to disappear she would be greatly influenced. Her recovery left some pieces of over contentmentousness attitude. It wasnt a joy that she is free from her husband, but joy that she give the sack live her life without the burden of depression, fear, and sadness. She knew she would squall again when she saw the kind, tender hands folded in closing (P. 62). She would root to weep not because of Brantlys dead hands but death itself. The way depression comes on a person is done the preoccupied of will and when the person giving up his/her life goals and ambitions.
